    pulling tranny- wont come apart??

    Well, something in the clutch area is messed up. Rear main is leaking like mad as well. Time to pull transmission. So, everything's going well, have all the bolts out, but now I cant get the engine and transmission to pull apart!!! Never had this problem before on other cars I've worked on. I've got a jack under the tranny, and I've pulled, yanked, kicked, pounded and pried in nearly every direction I can see. I even tried to wrap a chain around the tranny and pull it from the back with another car!! (yeah, broke the chain, it was a dinky one and it's all I had laying around) So far, it's moved about an 1/8" on the drivers side, but it's not going anywhere. Is there some secret that I dont know about getting these things off? Is there some hidden location that I can get a prybar into that will pop it off easier? Part of the problem is that there is nothing that I can see to pry against.

    Any help is appreciated.

    as long as you got all 6 bolts out from the housing and the 2 fluid lines off there shouldn't be anything left holding it on. nothign I remember anyway

      When i dropped my tranny i was having the same problem. It turned out that i didnt remove all of the clutch cover bolts on the passenger side. They are tiny little bolts, so make sure you got them all.

        Yep, thought I got them. One of them was nice and hidden. So I got the 6 big bolts on the bellhousing, the 4 on the oil pan support, (two on each side that come in from the side) and like 4 or so little clutch plate bolts. I know the clutch cover is free, as it is flopping around inbetween the engine and tranny. So basically, I just have to keep grunting and pulling?

          yeah, we had a ***** of a time...

          an issure I noticed was we were hitting the top of the tranny tunnel with the top of the bellhousing.

          but you sort of have to. It was a *****. We got it far out prying it from the clutch plate.

            jack up the drive pulley, that might help.
