  • Transmission Question

How can you get the 4L60E to support a turbo, heads, cam, and all the other valve work I'm doing?

Changing the torque converter? What good does that do? And what else is there to be done?

Your tranny will run fine without making any changes to it.

A torque converter will help you at the track and is a pretty good idea, but the trans won't explode if you don't do it.

I really think you need to do some searching before posting dozens of questions like this.

I searched, but maybe I searched the wrong keyword? I'm not finding anything on what I'm asking.

Which stall would best compliment these mods? There were guys saying 3000/3200 in one of the threads.

But hard launches with those mods are okay with a stock transmission? I thought I would blow it?

Stock A4 is nearly identical to a v8 transmission.

are you making more hp then a ls1?

Stall and shift kit may lesson the life a little but nothing to worry about.

now if you had a 5-speed then its a completely different deal.

Actually if you install a shift kit then you will make your tranny last longer. With a shift kit, the clutches engage faster which means longer lasting clutch packs, less heat due to less slipping between clutch plates, and crisper shifts. With a stall converter you might want to look into buying a tranny cooler as well since the higher stall speed will mean more heat inside the torque converter untill lockup.

i think a v8 tranny is a little more stout than a v6(can handle more hp).
              but there are some differences

zzp's website says not to use a tranny cooler, so i dont know what they're smokeing.
