I saw a guy advertising 3.42 gears out of his stock camaro SS. I believe I have 3.08s with an open rear end on my 1997 V6. Will these gears work in my car? How much are they worth, and how much would an install kit cost me? And do you think i will have a problem with traction, I will have new 245/50/16s on the car.

question on 3.42 gears

They should work, I believe most 4th gen f-bodies have the same gears and rear differential.
These numbers are estimated:
-No more than $100-150 for used gears
-$250 for installation, depending on shops in your area. Price around to get the best deal (I admit I didn't do this with my gear installation)
Yes, you will have traction problems unless you get a limited slip differential. Check your door code, if you see GU6 you have 3.42s stock, GU4 is 3.08s. (I think I'm right on those codes, someone plz correct me if I'm wrong)
