rebuilt tranny but still p1870

i got my tranny rebuilt about 4 weeks ago and it is still shifthing 1-2 hard should i get the sonnax kit and get it put in or take it back to the tranny shop and tell them to fix it since they never fix the problem.

What did you do to it when you rebuilt it?

If you put a new band and clutches it will shift hard [img]smile.gif[/img] I guess unless you got the GM replacement... Mine can bark the tires and my car doesn't even make any power [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I am sure they can explain why it shifts hard if you take it back to them [img]smile.gif[/img] All shops should warrenty their work.

its been shifting har 1-2 gear hard with the old tranny but it only does it if u drive for 15 mins going over 50 then it will start shifting hard when it switches 1st-2ed gear

If you didn't touch the valvebody when you rebuilt it (honestly, if you rebuilt it, why not change in a new VB?), then yes, you need to do the sonnax fix.

dan where u been.. hey i went to aamco they wanted way to much to rebuild valve body so i think im just gonna replace whole tranny with a performance one for $1600 installed. what u think

would it be cheaper to get a new vb or the sonnax kit

I've been around, but been consumed... If you're gonna get a performance tranny put in for that amount, I think you're getting a deal.

Tell the tranny shop to fix it. These are known issues with the tranny, if they didn't replace the valvebody they should have at least rebored that valve.

i learned today that it is a updated valve body so could the computer in the car not read it right it is a ob2 computer

yae well i talked to my mechanic and he said that he just put in a performance tranny in his boss's vette and said he would put same one in my car, $1100 for trans $500 for install.. but that comes with new torque converter right? wonder if i could get one better than stock like 2500 stall. what u think dan?

I would suggest getting your car dynoed before figuring out a stall. 2500 doesn't seem like a bad bet, though, but I wonder if you'd be better off with 2300. Depends on how much torque you're putting out. ;p
