yes and no. at least mine didnt handle up to powershifting. Now got a blown second gear sincro...
but i love powershifting...=)

over time powershifting tends to... wear out the tranny..i guess you can say.
Now if i try to power shift into second i have to litterally RIP the **** out of it.. it will grind for a split second then pops in. thats why...... i dont powershift anymore, unless absolutely necessary

really?
my dad used to powershift in his car all of the time.. heck, he even raced it for a long time, and nothing ever happened.
course I have replaced 5 clutches and like 3 transmission in the last 5 years Don't even remember anymore...

The car kinda died a little? Hmmm something was not done properly- I can scratch second all day powershifting. Not sure how you could "not" powershift: you just have to be at the right speeds so it doesn't bog down.
Oh and for your original question- yes you have a hydraulic clutch, look in the owners manual for instructions such as topping off the reservoir.
lots of things will cause you not able to scratch 2nd...
like good tires, good lsd, bad clutch, not enough power... etc...

Well for example if your powershifting second and you try to do it while going 35, you will probably bog down pretty hard, whereas if you are cruising at 50 or so and powershift it should launch. If you have a zexel lsd you will still scratch second, it dosn't kick in that quick. It should be easier for you anyway victimization because i'm guessing you have stock (open) internals. My tires are 255.50.16 kumho ecsta supras (80% tread left), so not terribly sticky but still pretty good.

If you're powershifting at 35 your RMPs would shoot up. Example - If You're in 1st gear and WOT and you shift at 5500rpm(35-38mph) you wouldn't experience a big jump in rpms because you're at the peak of 1st and mid range of 2nd. Same car different scenario(Im using my car for example 2002 m5 3.8 bone stock except for the clutch) If you're in 1st and doing 20mph (2600rpm?) and decide to powershift at that point(no matter how fast you are at shifting) your rpms are going to jump much more significantly. The only reason I could see boging down as an issue would be if you were shifting very low into another gear (Much like the effect of going from 2nd to 5th at 30mph). That might not have made any sense but it's what happens to my car and I can chirp the tires into 3rd(on a good day).

I was referring to downshifting WOT, there shouldn't be any "bogging down" if you upshift at the right RPM range. No matter what if you upshift you will not see an "increase" in rpm's unless you are spinnin'em.

My mistake. Thought you were refering to upshifting. No a good day means about 40* out and very dry. I've got Goodyear Eagle GTs on my car. They've got a soft-er compound. Depends on setup and condition of road you're on as well. Chirping 3rd isn't unreasonable in our cars.
