3.42 Disc Brake Rear End..LSD??

Ok, I did a search and looked all over this forum as well as the technical database.I know this has been asked before and I cant remember but someone please help me out!!..I bought a 3.42 disc brake rear end out of a 55k mile 96 a4 camaro for $200 .. my question is...does it have lsd and if it does, what kind of fluid do i run 80-90w?? additive?? thanks

the only reason im asking is because someone told me that it may not be lsd

was it hout of a v8 car? if so it is definetly has LSD.

if I am right I am not 100% sure but I think no v6 cars had disc brakes in 96 unless they were v8s or Y87(if they had that option that year0 either way they would have LSD.

Maybe someone else can expand on what I started.

|as for fluid, i asked around on the Lt1 boards cuz my rear end is the same they jsut said pretty much andy fluid at like autozone will work as laong as it says for LSD.

I found some "hi performance stuff" that I put in. I have had no problems for a year.

Double check your donor car. A4's usually didn't come with 3.42's unless the RPO code. You should be looking for a GU6. Most A4's come with, at best, 3.23.

If it is from a Z28, it will have the Zexel LSD already in it.

As for the additive/lube. You will need to get the GM LSD additive. It's a dealer only item. Gear lube is basic. Anything will do, just a matter of what if you want organic or synthetic.
