I've found a setup with everything I need except for the Center Console and the Bellhousing for $1,200. It's from a 97 TA LT1 with 50K. What do you all think? How much would it cost in labor to do the swap?

I could be wrong but wont the gearing be much different. That tranny was designed to be use with V8 power. The number of teath, pitch and size all plays a big part. you might be putting more load on your engine then with a V6 tranny. It might not be a big deal but it is something to think about.White 98 Camaro with t-tops leather and Y87. For more info on mods just ask.
1/4=14.9
2002 Xterra V6 A4

Talk about putting too much load on my engine... I cruise 75 MPH @ 3200 RPMS, that's not good.2001 A4 Pewter 75th Anniversary W68 Firebird
1997 Dodge Ram Extended Cab 360 CID
1996 Ford Explorer V6
Any number you can think of, I can think of one higher.
www.criesmusic.com
www.mp3.com/beneaththestage
http://www.thenebula.com/carpics/pics/Silver3800V6Picturescar6.jpg
http://www.thenebula.com/carpics/pics/Silver3800V6Picturescar4.jpg
AIM: Guitarchitect201

Well look @ the gear ratios on the 6 speed they are lower than on the T5. Also as far as gears go and speedo the way I understand it it shouldn't be a problem because they use a pulse just like the T5 to read speed so they should plug in.2002 M5 Bright Metallic Silver
*Fully loaded and modded

2005 GSXR 750
*Micron Serpent Race Exhaust *K&N Filter *Power Commander *Trying to hit 200 MPH!

1970 SS 454 Chevelle Cortez Silver
*It can pass anything but a gas station

M5 1st gear ratio is about 3.75:1
M6 1st gear ratio is 2.66:1
You'll need to change rear end gears to at least 4.11 to get close to the stock M5/3.23 overall 1st gear ratio, otherwise 1st will feel like starting in second gear.
Be sure to be good and hook up the CAGS!2002 Camaro Coupe
Navy Blue, A4, Y87
Whisper Lid, Raised Air Box
SLP Bow-Tie Grill, HPP3

Yes 4:10s work extremely well with the T56 due to the extremely tall 6th gear overdrive. For a V6, I would run 4:10s.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

um, that's not such a killer price, you can get the enginge and tranny off ebay if you are patient for just about 2k. Still, I've thought about this type of mod as a stepping stone to an 8...Take a look, I think you might be able to get one with a damaged input for $900 or less, just seems on the high $ side.

yeah that's not that great a deal. keep looking. i got my ls1 t56 for $500(of course i have to put it back together and it has no bellhousing so it may be the perfect candidate for my V6).i was swimming in the carribean. animals were hiding behind the rocks except for the little fish, but they told me the squid\'s trying to talk to me. oink, oink. where is my mind?

I've already got 4.11s in the rear so that's not a problem. I'm probably go to lower my tire height too from 26.1" to 25" so that will help out some too. I'm still looking around on E-bay for the best deal. I can get an LS1 T-56 for really cheap, but the guys on here say that it might not fit.2001 A4 Pewter 75th Anniversary W68 Firebird
1997 Dodge Ram Extended Cab 360 CID
1996 Ford Explorer V6
Any number you can think of, I can think of one higher.
www.criesmusic.com
www.mp3.com/beneaththestage
http://www.thenebula.com/carpics/pics/Silver3800V6Picturescar6.jpg
http://www.thenebula.com/carpics/pics/Silver3800V6Picturescar4.jpg
AIM: Guitarchitect201

It will fit but will require a bit of custom work to get it in.2002 M5 Bright Metallic Silver
*Fully loaded and modded

2005 GSXR 750
*Micron Serpent Race Exhaust *K&N Filter *Power Commander *Trying to hit 200 MPH!

1970 SS 454 Chevelle Cortez Silver
*It can pass anything but a gas station

No the LS1 clutch I think is to big for our flywheel. If he uses our flywheel and clutch then he would just have to change the input shaft on the trasmission.2002 M5 Bright Metallic Silver
*Fully loaded and modded

2005 GSXR 750
*Micron Serpent Race Exhaust *K&N Filter *Power Commander *Trying to hit 200 MPH!

1970 SS 454 Chevelle Cortez Silver
*It can pass anything but a gas station

the spline count on the T5 transmission = 26
the spline count on the T56 transmission = 26
you shouldnt need to change your clutch at all, or the input shaft. what you do need to consider is that the T56 has a different bellhousing than both the 3.4 and the 3.8L engine. you need to custom fab something, possibly welding the t56 backend bellhousing (cutting where the bellhousing connects to the tranny off) and the front of a 3.8 manual..
good luck making it all work.
as long as you can get a bellhousing, the crossmember from a Z28, and any single-piece driveshaft (you could even use the two-piece, they are about the same length.) everything should work out fine. Do not get a T56 from a 1998 Z28 or T/A -- these are notorious for problems internally!
if you have questions and stuff, ive researched a lot -- feel free to email me, its in my profile.
