  • Clutch not disengaging

Hey. I just got a second new master cyl. Everythings hooked up, bleeded and all. Thing is, i have about an inch - inch half between the other pedals and the vltuch pedal, like it doesnt come out enough to line up with the others. also, it wont disengage the clutch at all. new master cylinder, new slave, spring and TO bearing. new fluid. has centerforce DF clutch. spent over an hour bleeding today without luck. can get pictures if needed. (this is a post 5-speed swap, still waiting to get on the street)

I have been working on this with him Over AIM

he didn't have TOB and spring so he ended up haveing to get a new slave witch comes with the TOB and spring.

then the clutch was messed up and.... we tried many things and it all pointed to the master.. replaced that And it is doing the exact same thing.... tried to bleed it again still nothing....

My car is not in foront me and theres really not much that could be wrong at this point everything but the line is new and i have never heard of a pinched clutch line that would restirc the flow to not let the clutch do what it is suppose to......

I asked him to post hear because I am out of idaes on what it could be.....

any more detial you need post up and he can give them to you

Does this setup have the hydraulic throwout bearing or does it use a lever/fork?

I say disk is in backwards, or slave/spring/TOB assembly is messed up.

If it was a line or air bubble problem, it wouldn't ENGAGE, let alone disengage.

the preassure disk?i think thats in correct, the correct side facing the flywheel, that is. then the slave entire assembly (spring and TO bearing), is all brand new and bolted down correctly.

You said this was a conversion. Are all of the parts from an 97-02 year car? Especially the trans. If so, you may have to shim the hydraulic T/O so it contacts the pressure plate.

Without hydraulic pressure, the clutch would ALWAYS be engaged.

Just another thought, sometimes you are required to break the clutch in before it will disengage. This can be done by starting the car in gear until it breaks free. I had a Mustang I worked on do that to mean. We had to push it outside and then start it. It broke free almost instantly and it has been perfect since then.

hmm. i look in the bellhousing with a light and i see the spring pushing the preassure plate when my friend pushes the pedal, but for some reason its prob not doing it enough. -OR-, i had a nightmarish idea. what if when me and my friend were putting on the clutch togethe ron it, what if we pinched the preassure disk between the preassure plate and the flywheel? would it stay there?

How far did the car travel when you did that? It may take 60' or so.

um, way more than 60' lol and then i couldnt even get it into neutral, even if i started in reverse i couldnt get it outta gear.

Sorry but my only suggestion to you would be to tear it back apart and inspect. Did you ever say if all of the parts for the conversion were from the same car?

yes, all the parts were from the same car. the cltuch and all is brand new though. (clutch pp, clutch pd, flywheel, master and slave)
