  • I've got a tranny question for the experts

Well, the tranny will be done tomorrow and I should have the car by friday.
My speed shop called me with questions from the tranny shop. I was in a rush so I couldn't wait for the answers. I'll get them friday but I wanted feedback from here first
    My questions are as follows:
    1) They wanted to know if I left the tranny in overdrive or drive at the track, why do they need to know that? Extra clutch packs for overdrive gear?
    2) Launch rpm and when do I hit nitrous? I've got no explaination for that

    Tranny:
    4l60 e
Started out with b&m shift kit stage 2 but then modified by pat barrett trannies. Every upshift firmness adjusted to my likings.
    Corvette servo
    Alto clutch packs
    Keflar bands
Pro yank 3200 n/a and 3600 nitrous converter 95.5% - 96 percent effeceincy at 5800 rpm's and 2.8 torque multiplication custom made for my car according to gears, tire height, nitrous, dyno, weight etc
    Flexlite tranny cooler 12,000 gvw
Those are the old specs of the internals.
I'll post the new internal specs

Any explanations on those 2 questions?

On the drive vs. overdrive, if they have a choice of using upgraded bushings/sleeves and other load bearing surfaces (besides clutches) that are specific to the overdrive. (That is, if they are taking the answer to assume you will be actually shifting into overdrive during your pass, and applying power in overdrive, since this gear and related parts is usually weaker than the others, by design.)

Harder bushings will withstand more torque, but could cause faster wear on related parts, so they are probably trying to work those tradeoffs.

Launch rpm? Maybe trying to estimate total torque load on the tranny at launch.

When you hit the nitrous? no clue, unless they are thinking you won't hit in first gear, so it may not need as much beef?
