  • So... what did I break today?

    at track BAM!

car no go in gear, grinding noise when I let clutch out.

Rolls, but sometimes has issues... possible noises from rear when being pulled on and off flatbed

REALLY had to pull hard to get it off the truck.

    PLEASE BE THE 10-bolt....

good news car was running like a champ... bogging the launches to a 14.73@93.8 I believe... 2.2 60'...

I squeeze a few 2.0s out like I have in the past, could see a 14.5 or a 14.4, with the belt on.

Just saying if it was the rear, aren’t you glad that you didn’t sell your Zexel Torsen to anybody. ;)

jacked the rear up the wheels don't move.

I plan to go pull the driveshaft and see if the wheels spin freely wihtout the driveshaft, if they don't going to pull the diff cover and see whats up.

There is no real way to tell until I start digging into things.

I doubt its the clutch, it still feels like it engages and disengages.

The car even in neutral will give resistance or not move at all. We will see where the resistance is at once I pull the driveshaft.

Judging by your prior post, I'll put my money on a shredded diff.

              Things not looking good...

small dribble of fluid out of tail of tranny.

but the car was tilted at an incline off the truck for like 5-10 minute might jsut be a small leak from that.

I am having issues getting the driveshaft out. undid the bolts and caps for the U-joint, and for the love of god cannot pry the drivehaft forward to disengage it. Which is wierd it usually prys forward pretty easy and slides out.

And I can turn the wheels.

Depends on how rusty it is.

I have a Blazer I was replacing a transfer case on that was being a PITA solely because of that. Heres a tip though, when you pull it out - so your U-Joint doesn't come apart, wrap the u-joint in electrical tape - that way it doesn't stick to the metal/rust and only to itself so you can take it back apart when reinstalling.

You have jackstands under the car with the rear dropped? Don't think there's enough play if the rear is at ride height.

Its not the U-joints, the driveshaft has been in the car for like 2 months. Put it in with the clutch replacement.

car is jacked up, rear is hanging on stock suspension. I'll try it again at drive height then I will try undoing the shocks and rear sway and drop the rear way down.

Okay, if you've got the rear hanging then the shaft should come right out. May take a few raps with a rubber mallet.

ITs being held up by the front end from the feel of it. I put a medium sized prybar between the tail of the driveshaft and where the cap bolts in, and pryed to the point where the pry bar was bending.

I'll play with it some more today.

This happened to me one time. Unfortunately I was 4 hours away from home and got shafted by the place I took it too. My pinion gear had come loose and was slipping into the differential. BAM! like you said. When it was all out several teeth were broken off of the ring gear and there were teeth marks all over the differential housing. Something about a pin coming loose.
