Well, I'm to the part where I have to take the shifter out. I have removed all 4 bolts but, the shifter will not budge. I also destroyed the rubber boot that was over the shift area. I took teh 3 screws out of it and it would not budge so I cut it with my knife to get to the shifter. So, my big question is, how do I get the shifter out to put in the new B&M Shifter. As I said above, I took the 4 bolts out, and it will still not budge.Ohh, I have a 5 speed just in case your wondering. PLEASE HELP....
Thanks..
Thanks for the reply and the website. I just read it and they make it look easy. I think what they have done to my car is place the RTV stuff under the rubber boot and the shifter. I could not budge the rubber boot, so i had to cut it. And the shifter will not move. I wish it would just come out like they show but, it won't. I've pulled and pulled on it and will not move. Help Help.. please.
Thanks for the replies. Well, I finally got it installed. I went back out to the car and yeap, made sure it was in neutral. It was. I then had a great idea of a tool that I have used many times in cases like this. The large flat head screwdriver. :D Well, I was able to get enough leverage to pop the old shifter out of there. All I heard was a sucking like sound and pop it came off. So finally I was able to place the RTV stuff on my new B&M shifter and let it set for 5 or so min. and then place it to rest(hopefully forever) where the old shifter was. Bolted it back down, put everything back together, and took it for a small test drive. All I can say is WOW  Welp, I'm going back out now to give it a longer test drive. :D One thing though. The rubber boot that went over the shifter. Is that really needed. I kinda hacked mine up to get to the shifter since it was also clued to the car. I still have some of it left inside there but it's not a entire boot. I do here my engine and transmission more now, since I hacked the boot up, but that's no biggy. Makes riding it even better now, since I can here the engine, transmission, and exhaust better now. Just wondering if the boot is really need to keep water and stuff out of the car, since when you take it off or hack it(like i did) you can see the ground below. Thanks again.
