Ok I've searched all the old discussions and still haven't found a definitive way to do this.. I"m going from 3.08's to 3.42's.. has anyone found a way to change the shift points if the dealership will not do it?.. I don't want to be shifting at the wrong points and really need a fix to this... I'd also rather not buy a used PCM and put that in... what can I do?

lol...how many times you gonna ask this? you CAN'T fix the shift points perfectly without getting a new pcm or dealership to reprogram your current pcm. what these guys said about getting a jet scu is correct, you can screw around with it and get shift points closer to normal, but then the speedo will be off. i have 3.42s on a 3.08 programmed pcm and it doesn't bother me at all. more than likely you won't be able to tell the shift points are any different whatsoever. however, there are some people with a few complaints. it's very possible that under WOT you may begin hitting the rev limiter--which can suck a little bit, and then reprogramming will probably be necessary. but, from what i know, this problem only occurs randomly with different cars, so i cannot guarantee you that it will or will not happen.
if you really don't want to worry about the shift points, my advice is, don't get the gears. i too was worried about shift points, speedo, and odo being off, but i've had my gears for about 1000 miles and none of these factors bother me whatsoever. i really doubt you'll have any complaints once you get those gears in, but i know it can stress you out thinking about all the problems that may arise because of putting new gears in.2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

I know i've asked it a million times.. just had to see if a new answer would come up.. guess not... Is it worth it?.. thats my question for you? Despite the shift points being a little off or whatever happens did you find it worth it? and even though they are off do you still do better off the line?1997 Medium Quasar Blue A4 Hardtop
Stero
Alpine Stereo CDM-7857,Kenwood Amplifier KAC-848,Two 12 Inch Pyle New Wave Subs
Appearance
Headlight, TailLight, and Turn Signal Blackouts, Limo Tint on Hatch, 35% Tint on Sides, Orange Painted Calipers and Drums, Orange Engraved Camaro, Orange Painted Hood Scoops, Orange Camaro Windshield Decal
Performance
160* thermostat, Custom T/A dual exhaust, K&N Filter, NGK Spark Plugs, All Synthetic Fluids (Maybe not a mod but costs some damn $$$), 80 Series Flowmaster with Custom Dual Exhaust, (In The Making) 3.42 Gears, Zexel Torsen Limited Slip Differential, Goodyear Eagle 1 \"Z\" Rated Tires
http://darius.100megsfree5.com/home.html
So Its not the fastest car ever made... oh ya, it was worth it. now hopefully in the long run i won't see some flywheel and/or clutch damage from the tranny shifting later than it's supposed to, but i seriously doubt it, cause i can't notice the shifts really that much more than i did beforehand. but i plan on eventually getting it reprogrammed because i know someone who works for a dealership that can probably fix it for me. but if i never find the guy, it's ok with me, not that big of a deal.
when i got the new gears, to be completely honest with you, i didn't feel much of a difference off the line at all. top end felt the exact same to me, and off the line only felt slightly better. but, i finally raced an 02 maro with minimal mods and i beat him by a good 3-4 car lengths off the line and he never caught back up. so ya, it made quite a difference that i only really noticed when i raced a car just like my old one. if you are looking to mod your car a lot, gears are almost a must. very few mods for the price of gears can give you such an advantage as this one does.
do what ya want, but i think, unless you get screwed with hitting the rev limiter, you'll be quite happy with the gears. of course, even if you do hit the rev limiter, you can call around and find someone that will charge an outrageous $100 or so to fix the problems. i guarantee you there are people out there who will do it, you just gotta look and know what to tell them.2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335
