• Pro 5.0 + Lou's Short Stick = Bad?

I just got done ordering my Pro 5.0 shifter from LMPerformance and I was going to order Lou's Short Stick. Cuz I was thinking that they're a really good combo. But then I noticed at afterthoughtsauto they say that it doesn't fit with the Pro 5.0 for 5 speed.( http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/lousshortstick.html ) So I come here and see this post ( http://www.camarov6.com/ubb/ultimate...&f=23&t=000797 )?? Does it fit like it says in the Modifications Encyclopedia or not? :( I don't really want to waste money on it and have it not work. I was really kind of hoping to have the combo. Anyone that maybe has both of them or has any insight into this, please help.
---Thanks :D

You should e-mail Lou and ask him. He helped me out a lot when I ordered my short stick for my Hurst.

John - recently I sold a Pro 5.0 stick to a guy who had one in his 5 speed
V6. He had clearance problems with the stick hitting his console no matter
how he tried to install it. Based on that, I have to say it's not
compatible with the 5 speed Pro 5.0 shifters. You're welcome to give it a
try but I can't take a return if I know it won't perform on that shifter.
I'm not sure what Afterthoughts return policy is.

>I hear nothing but good things about your product.
>I have just recently purchased a Pro 5.0 for my v6 camaro
>which is, of course, a five speed and on the afterthoughtsauto
>web site it says that your short stick doesn't work with the
>five speed Pro 5.0. But on www.firebirdv6.com, a site I frequent,
>they are saying that it makes a good combo. Anyway, if you could

I dunno how this rumor got started that they are compatable. But someone was misinformed.

I'm not sure where your gettting your info from, but if you are referring to this review: Hurst/Lou shifter review, no where in there does it state anything about the Pro 5.0 shifter.

If you are getting info from members, I would hope that the members have a Pro 5.0.

I also with Stefan, have the Hurst/Lou combo. One of the best mods I've done to date.

Actually, I'm getting my info from the Modifications Encyclopedia. If you go to the shifters section, it talks about the Pro 5.0 and says that you can also get a Lou's Short Stick for it and even gives the part number. I'm not saying anything bad about the Modification Encyclopedia. I really find it more than helpful and I want to make sure no one thinks I'm ungrateful. But that is where I initially got the information.

Anyway, I believe I'm going to go with the B&M Ripper shifter. I think it's my best bet. Hopefully, I can talk to LMPerformance before they ship out my Pro 5.0 :D

As for the hurst, the fact that a lot of the LS1 people that have it come stock, upgrade it to pro 5.0 or the B&M shifter makes me hesitant about the hurst.

There are different models of Hurst shifters. The one people seem to like best is the "Billet Plus".

I don't think that's what GM puts on the V8, but I'm not positive. The fact that the short stick comes in different versions for the "factory Hurst" and the "aftermarket Hurst" would tend to indicate they are different.

OK.. I'll see if we can't get confirmation on this. If we are wrong, I want that changed in the Encyclopedia quickly.

I bought a Pro 5.0 and a Lou's Short Stick. Didn't fit. I sent the short stick back to Lou and just cut 1.25 inches of threads off my stick.
