  • Aluminum Driveshaft Compatibility?

Are the D/S from 82+ compatible with our 4th gen f-body's?
Also, will the V8 D/S bolt up to the V6 drivetrain without modification(s)?

Reason I'm asking is I'm planning on getting one "Real Soon" and I don't want to run into wrench throwing, name calling, upsetting the neighbors kinda body language that normally goes with putting parts on the 93+ camaro and firebirds.

I would stick to the 4 gen DS. And yes, any V8 4th Gen DS will work in our cars.

The center support bearing on my driveshaft is going out so I'm going to replace it with a single piece ds from a bone yard. I read in my Chilton something about a nylon material being injected into the u-joint to secure them to the yoke. This is destroyed when disassembling the u-joint. But if I remember right I won't be taking them apart just to install the ds will I? It's the 3.4 L with the 5 speed manual tranny.

Has anyone had any bad experiences installing a used single piece ds in a 94 v6 Firebird? Any advice or tips greatly appreciated. Plan on doing the install saturday august 10th.

              Thanks
