Its that funny looking bolt (+) at the end of the driveshafte where it meets the rear end. I've heard of those going out over time and causing slack in the rear. Can someone provide some info? Thanks.

you mean the u-joint. Its pretty easy not sure if your's has already been done but if it hasn't you need a torch to get the oil glue like material out of the joint. Then you have to hammer the pin out to get the old u-joint out. The the new one just slides right in and a c-type clip on both sides holds it in.

I don't think they will cause any kind of problems just a very loud banging type noise when you take off from a stop or under certant conditions where driver power is being transfer like when you start rolling from a stop or start coasting with your foot off the gas. Not sure if that makes since but I think you unstand what I"m saying.

They cause driveline lash just like a bad tranny mount when they need replaced. Stock ones are sealed, I'd only worry about replacing if you're changing shafts.1994 Firebird 3.4<br />15.65 @ 86.8<br /><a href=\"http://www.funkz.net/firebird.htm\" target=\"_blank\">funkz.net/firebird</a><br /><a href=\"http://mywebpages.comcast.net/funkz/timeslips.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Timeslips</a>

Did you put new joints on when you changed the shaft? There are greasable types that have grease fittings and sealed type like stock.1994 Firebird 3.4<br />15.65 @ 86.8<br /><a href=\"http://www.funkz.net/firebird.htm\" target=\"_blank\">funkz.net/firebird</a><br /><a href=\"http://mywebpages.comcast.net/funkz/timeslips.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Timeslips</a>
