Was wanting to put in new 3.42s and lsd on my 96 bird. But I heard that you need a 97+ pcm to send and get reprogrammed for the gear change and such. Is this true, or can I use my stock one? thanks

If you use a stock pcm programmed for 3.08s/3.23s you "can" use it, but your shift points will be off and mileage will also be off.
DHP I believe can tune 96s however.
Some dealerships will also flash your computer witha Y87 VIN if you call around you may find one. -
