No, you'll be fine with 4.10s, so you'll definatly have no problems with 3.73s \'99 SSM Camaro V6 M5
(mod list on cardomain site; too long to list here)
http://www.cardomain.com/id/v6cam99

theoretical top speed with 3.73s is around 170 something...
you'll get into your speed limiter before you have to worry about losing top end. you do lose top end, but nothing you can actually "use." think of that top end like when you lost your baby teeth: you might have been surprised at first, but you knew there were greater things in store.
people who say you'll lose a lot of mileage or top end don't have 3.73s.

You will lose some gas milage, if you had 3.08's to 4.10's theres a 25% difference in rpms that you will gain through each gear. That means greater torque but with higher rev's to achieve the same speed of the 3.08's.
3.08's @ 120mph=4776 rpms
3.42's @ 120mph=5303 rpms
3.73's @ 120mph=5784 rpms
4.10's @ 120mph=6358 rpms
I believe the calc is using a 1:1 drive line ratio with 26" tires. Using overdrive you will get 25 to 30% fewer rpms.255/50R16 Tires, Pioneer Deck, Pioneer 4 Way speakers, PPI Amps, JL subs, Spec Stage 3 Clutch, Optima Yellow Top

3rd gear @6000RPM w/3.73's = 123mph
With 4.10's, you would be hitting 112 in 3rd and 161 in 4th.2001 Black Z28 M6
Sprayed, slotted, geared and more~

You guys are nuts, Unless it's going to be a fulltime drag car their should be no need for 4.10's or even 3.73's really. I would go with 3.42 for the best match of performance, milage and reliablity. You can use 3.73's But 4.10's are way overkill. I don't know why everyone have gone on a lower gear ratio rampage tho?!?! Thanks god for computer tuning tho, thats all I have to say.2005 Cavalier LS Sport M5
http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615

with 3.73's or 4.10's what would the cruising rpm's be at say on the highway at 60-80 mph. if i got gears i wouldnt want my rumbler to be unbearable on long trips, which will probably be in my future (travelling from home in miami to college in no. fla.)
how much time will be shaved from my 1/4 time as compared with my 3.42's??V-SEX!

intake/exhaust ;)
plenty appearence

Within my grasp: 14\'s :)

In A LOT of people's opinions, 3.73s are the perfectly balanced gear. If I dont go 95 miles an hour home, I still get 28-29mpg highway too.Sinister Six©
My \'95 Bird
I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.
