D with the square around it allows the car to shift into overdrive. Overdrive is 4th gear. It's simply a gear with a larger ratio than 1:1.Matt

According, to it you should drive in the D with the square around (as mentioned above allows the car to shift into overdrive when it can.) The other D is for high load situations such as towing.SLP CAI, K&N, Whisper Lid, 180* thermo, manual fan switch, 3.42 gears, Auburn Pro LSD, Wester\'s PCM Tuning, TSP Rumbler, High Flow Cat. Overdrive is 4th gear. It's nothing magical that kicks in and lowers rpms (ie, TC locking up), it just shifts gears. Cruising in 3rd gear in an M5 and want lower RPMs? Shift to 4th. Same thing. It's called overdrive because the gear ratio is taller than 1:1.Matt
