Okay well I called the dealership today and had them look up my vin # online since I can't read my stickers.
They told me it did say it had LSD and the code for the Gear/axle is "GU6". So I have both the 3.42's and posi. now I'm wondering if I'll even feel the difference with 3.73's
Yea, you will feel a difference. It is just a slightly smaller jump than the 3.08 to 3.42 swap that all the members here seem to love so much
Before you take any recommendations from anyone else about what gears you should put in, why don't you let us know how you like to use your car? Do you race at all? What type of racing? Lots of road trips? Just around town?
I dont' take a lot of a long highway trips. Maybe 2 at MOST per year which for vactions. It is my daily driver but work is about 15 minutes away. I like to street race when a opportunity presents itself and Also doing some auto crossing once in awhile.
With the driving situation that you are in, I would have recommended 3.73's. Im in the same boat and wish I went that route instead of the 3.42's. However, if you already have 3.42's, its a pile of money to upgrade. Not sure its worth it.

if you go 3.42 and lsd you can just buy a full take off rear end and swap the whole damn thing in. its actually easier than changing gears if you want to do it yourself, especially if this is your first time, and doesnt really cost anymore than a gear swap if you buy the rear end locally.

I already have the 3.42 gears and LSD in my bird. Came with teh Y87 package apparently. So all I would have to upgrade is the gears to 3.73. which is still a 3series carrier
correct (well, a gear install kit too), but its going to run you about $500 to do it. Labor on the gear swap is the killer, and not something many people should attempt and expect good results.

Well my bro-in-law is a mechanic who use to work a lot on camaros and he did quite a few gear swaps with no complaints. So he will help me out and not charge me. Just have to do it after hours lol. So in the end its just the Kit and gears
