• Changed Drive Shafts, but now its weird

Ok, I changed my driveshaft a few months ago when the two piece on my car broke. So I had a driveshaft place build me one for $150. It went on fine and seemed to drive fine also. But If i hit it hard from first to second i get this banging noise from underneath my car. it seems like the tranny torques up a little or something with the driveshaft and have never heard anybody else having this problem. But maybe they are changing something with it. Let me know. Also the two piece had a bracket held on below and the one piece doesn't for ovious reasons. But do I need something else also? Please let me know as I just pulled the car back out of storage. Its a 96' 3800 Firebird with a 5 speed

Either that or maybe a Universal joint already.

Check your torque arm too. Once on my car, the bolt that holds it to the tranny fell out, and so it was just hanging around and it was make a loud banging noise. Check that and the tranny mount.

i'll agree..tranny mount..your new (and i'll assume because its lighter) driveshaft is allowing it to spin faster..probably laying down a couple more horses..what you're hearing is the tranny banging in between the floor of the car and the cross member..id go with the Energy Suspension poly mount..$20 on www.slponline.com

to me poly is to stiff for a tranny mount. Get rubber and shifts wont feel as harsh and you wont really lose any performance.

i got a 1le transmission mount when i had to replace mine and i like it. i avoided the poly ones cause i think you have to modify them a little bit to get them to fit, and i thought the poly would be too hard too. try the 1le.
