The present split DS compensates for vibration. You need to replace it with as large a diameter as you can. The 3rd gen 1LE is 2.75", I have the LS1 3". There are 3.5" out there but are more $ than a LS1 new. You will have additional vibration using the single piece DS. Ensure that your tranny mount is good.

      http://www.shaftmasters.com/parts/camaro-firebird.htm a direct replacement for the 2 piece since a v6 is longer than that on a v8 LS1

        Get the 1 piece alum.

I noticed more low end grunt along with higher rpm power.... as for mid range power... nothing.
