As it said, Im having a problem. Every now and then I cant put it into first when Im stopped, and shifting isnt always the nicest part of the drive. When Im going it never gets stuck or anything, but I can feel somethings off. From a stop I cant put it into first sometimes, I have to go to 2nd, then back , like moving something around. Anyone have any ideas and if I can fix it myself or not? I already changed my transmission fluid to some synchromesh, feels sooo much nicer, but sometimes this getting stuck is a problem. Also at other times to go to reverse I have to go forward an inch or 2, then go to reverse...wtf is wrong??

Nope, hasnt happend yet, but something is wrong. If it is the synchros, any possibility of fixing this for free on my own, without a professional lift or whatever, or is this a tear apart the tranny type of job.2000 3800 II V6 Firebird
various small mods, bigger stuff later.

sorry to hijack the thread, but my car pops out of gear sometimes because sometimes my shifter jerks violently when my tires are spinning on a sticky surface. Does this happen to anyone else or do i need new synchros AND a tranny mount.1996 white camaro M5
-Custom CAI, !MAF, !EGR, Hi-Flow Cat, Magnaflow Cat-back, Removed Jack/Spare/Back seats.

2.12 60\' Best
15.14 @ 90 1/4 mile Best

ANYWAYS... i have the same problem. Well i used to. It ended up being my clutch believe it or not. as far as the getting into first gear while at a stop. BUT i knowi have sincro problems because it is not a smooth shift anymore like when i first got the car. second gear grinds half of the time i try to get it in.
ANyways as far as repairing them.. scote out the forsale section on this site. Most of the time your better off swapping out the tranny for another one. I know im not gonna mess with syncro problems myself.. **** that i couldnt even stand dropping out the tranny.. let alone gutting it out and replacing the syncros..
Keep us updated. also if u'r looking for used transmissions. www.tacreationsusa.com has them for pretty cheap.
In fact.. what my plan is. im gonna get a used transmission and have it rebuilt with a lot stronger internals. I heard that our BW t5's use brass internals.. i dont knwo why.. ****en Civic SI transmissions are stronger than ours.. GRR96 Camaro M5. it will be cheaper to buy a used transmission than it will be to rebuild your old one.
our transmissions use a variety of materials in the synchros, but have not used brass since the old non-world class versions built in the mid 80's. i believe the current generation of WC T5s used nylon lined 3-piece synchro rings.
