  • JET Chip & transmission swap

I've recently decided to swap out my the a4 in my 3.4L 93 Camaro for an M6. Now, I heard that Camaros come stock only with M5, but looking at the JET applications guide for 93 Camaros, they only make a manual chip for a 6 speed. Anyway... so I won't be getting the manual tranny for quite some time, I need to get the money for it (I figure $3500-$4000 for the A4 --> M6, to be safe). Until then, I want to beef up the car and my mechanic recommended a JET power chip highly. However, if I fork out 300 smackers now, I'll have to sell it for a lot cheaper when I get a manual tranny. Hmm, what to do, what to do....

I was also wondering what kind of mods I should stay away from if I'm converting to manual in the future. I have the FIPK and Flowmaster right now, and that's about it. I want to add a posi and a torque converter but someone told me I should wait on that until I get more HP out of the engine. Perhaps I should hold off on anything more until I get the money to convert, or should I just add a JET and slowly start modding while saving at the same time for the tranny swap.....

    Advice anyone?

Just get the Chip for a 5spd. It will work with your A4 for the time being and IF you can get the M6 2 work it will aslo work with it.

Actually, since you have a 93 car, your automatic Transmission isn't electronic controled, it has a hydrolic valve body like all the old fashioned ones, so the Jet Chip would have no effect on the transmission, manual or automatic. But just to be on the safe side, I would get the one for the 5 speed car.

As for the tranny switch, is there a reason you are converting to a six speed? The 3.4 really doesn't have enough power to drive the .5 overdrive in 6th. You would have to compensate with a set of rear end gears 4.10 or numerically higher.
