  • New clutch installed.. but have a question.(Revisited)

I installed (with some help) a specs stage II Clutch. Everything from the install looks good, no check engine lights or anything like that. However, The clutch pedal was very soft (meaning I had to push it all the way down to the floor before I could put it in gear). I have driven 30ish miles and the clutch pedal is getting better (I assume its self adjusting), almost feels like the old clutch felt except little easier to push in. If I get on it just a little (not much) it feels like the clutch catches slowly (hard to describe). Put it this way, I think If I really got on I could not spin the tires in 1st and chirp the tires in 2nd and 3rd (I could easly do this in the factory clutch). Is this normal? Did I forget to do something? When I got home this afternoon the clutch felt like it was catching faster and I may be albe to chirp the tires in 1st.

    Side notes:
Yes, I know you have to break in the clutch for 450 miles. Does that mean for the next 450 miles it will be adjusting its self?

    Yes, the flywheel was turned.

Everything appears to be in good working order.

The lines just got air in them. As long as your fluid level is fine, the air will work its way out of the clutch by itself.

its fine.. give it a while to break it.. you really shuld not be beating it that hard when its new anyway... not ahrd enough to tell that its loose.. which it is.. but it will get better..

and yes.. my peddle also felt a little softer after the clutch install.. probably jsut becuase of the new fluid makes everything work better..

I am not really hard on it "yet"; I can just tell how it was engaging. You are right, It's getting better I have just over 100 miles on it now and it's starting to feel much better. When letting out the clutch now it grabs much better. It seems to continue to get better and better. By the middle of next week (maybe the end), I'll have the 450 miles and I can play a little. Thanks for your help.

                  Update,
Iv'e driven over 450 miles. It's still a little hard getting it into gear sometimes. Pushing in the clutch still seems soft. Any thoughts?

I'm going to bleed the clutch again, see if that helps.
