my 97 bird came with autio trany,do you think i can put some peroformance on it or not,there's someone else her with auto trany????/

The most noticeable thing you can do to your automatic is to get a torque converter.
You can get a basic overview from this post.
There are a few other things you can do, such as reprogramming the shift points, but I am not very knowledgable on those subjects. Hopefully I shall be enlightened as well!
