one of the side effects of a stiffer shifter, you get more transmission/driveline noise transmitted up through it. it might subside or you will get used to it over time..

it sounds like a buzzing like black98 said, i think it may be vibration coming from the tranny itself. it sounds alot like there is a tiny gap of somekind somewhere and its bouncing rappidly, there is no actual physical movement just vibration.... any way to stop it?

          whining, buzzing, same thing

mine does the same. my stock shifter and knob did the same especially after i put the poly trans mount in. when i got the stiffer shifter it got worse, but i don't even notice it now.

to make it really bad, i have to push down in the shifter knob, but how often do you really do that?

possibly, if its a quick slight buzzing, it may be a damaged 'cup' bit that the shifter ****s in... (dont start, i just woke up ;) )... so u may wanna relace it (cheap part) if that is infact the noise u refer to... if u didnt put any grease on that bit as well, it may be that

ya, that cup might be it, and im gunna try the grease. and the Poly tranny mount is next so i might as well get used to it. but ya, it does get worse when i push down on it. ima try those and see where i stand after that. im going by the parts store this thursday... blinker bulb went out... so i'll see if i can pick up that lil plastic cup thingy there.

Did you put a layer of RTV between the shifter and the transmission?

I have a ripper, RTV applied and I greased the little white cup too, and I still get a buzzing sound. I just turn the radio up and it goes away.
