• Anyone who ordered an SLP LSD, HELP!!!

I received my LSD today, but there was a HUGE hole in the box. Actually, it was more like the box was torn in half. Anyways, whoever has ordered their LSD from SLP, I need to know what came with the diff. Was it just the diff, or should mine have come with bolts and pins, which would have fallen out of the box(just like the diff did when I picked it up)? The diff appears to be in perfect condition, however. This really sucks, I need to put this Saturday. Someone, please help!!!

Mine only came with the differential. No loose parts in my box.

The box my LSD came in was in rough shape but no holes. I wonder if SLP uses scrap boxes or if UPS just sucks that bad. ;)

    P.S. I work for FedEx Express! ;)

UPS just sucks that bad. I worked there for two years, I know :D Thanks for the response! Now, what parts will I need to install this? So far, I just have the oil for LSD. My car only has 3600 miles, so I think the gasket is probably fine, but should I change it anyway just to be safe? Thanks again!

I ordered two of those things... first one the box had a hole in it. The 2nd one was also torn and had a hole in it. The packaging SLP uses blows. You use pieces off of your stock differential and they bolt onto the SLP Unit.

Definitely replace the gasket (after cleaning off the surface and using red silicone sealer on both sides of the gasket. Paint the one side, lay the gasket, then do the other, so you're not getting sealer everywhere. Drop everyone a note about the install! I'm curious if it's easy.

NO !!! The stock diff uses a pin to hold the axle shafts ... the Zex-Torsen has a BLOCK that holds the shafts. The old stuff will not fit !

You should have received the new diff, and a small package that has the block and the retaining screw in it.

My box also came all beat to sh*t, but the additional parts were there. I did have to clean all the packing "fluff" from the new diff tho'

MidLifeSpeed is right you're missing the pinion shaft if i remember correctly.

i just got mine today, but there is no seperate package. there is like a bolt/screw in the differential, but no pin's. the box is in perfect shape. anyone have a picture of what is supposed to come with it?

Do the 3.4's still need the block and pin? i'm going to go double check the package, but i'm pretty sure they're not there.

Don't feel bad, UPS lost 4 1LE endlinks I had ordered, but at least they had the 1LE rear sway bar still in the box! I called today to report a claim, but went ahead and ordered 4 more endlinks from the dealer (who ended up giving me a good deal on them) ;)

Oh great! I guess I won't be installing it this weekend, then! :(

Does anybody have GM part #s for these "blocks" and pinion shaft. What about the screw for the pinion shaft... does it need to be replaced or is the stock one still good?

When I do this install (I've got PLENTY of club members to help), I'm having one take AWESOME notes and TONS of pictures. I'm going to fix us up with a great install page with TONS of details! ;) :D I'm kinda fed up with partial instructions here and there with no "parts needed" section before the install procedure. :( I'm gonna do it right for ya fellas! :D

here are some install directions and pics for LSD and it says nothing about a block or pinion. is it different for 3.4's? this next weekend is the perfect weekend for me to get this done, but i don't want to take it apart to find out it won't work. the directions seem pretty thourough and they don't mention the block. how much gear oil am i going to need? i can buy the limited slip additive at my local pontiac dealership right?

I have a bolt and screw in my differential too but it didn't come with another package... i basically got the LSD itself but there was nothing else with it... i'm looking at the SLP website and there are 3 parts pictured there... I'm about to do this install myself this weekend too and I want it done properly... is there a GM part number i can get or should i call SLP back?
