Well, the gear shop told me that apparently (the name of the part escapes me) the speedo keeps tabs on the speed via a ring or part in the rear end and it adjusts automatically for speedo changes - and after riding in it, id have to agree...
No one on here seemed to be aware of this? Whatsup with that? I have an 02 M5.

I did, there is a slight change, not much, not worth spending more then $2 to fix it. On a trip that came out to 205 miles turn out to be about 218 for me. I tested the 205 mile tri like 5 times, and the 218 now has been 3 times, its very slight but there.
Who cares if speedo is off, jsut means ou will not drive as fast.

Doubtful.... the speedo is measured at the tailshaft of the tranny, not the rear end. The only thing in the rear end, is the ABS reluctor ring but that's not for the speedo.
Also, don't forget your odometer is off. It is reading higher than the mileage that is actually on the car. If you ever plan on selling the car, or bringing it in for warranty work, the mileage will appear higher than actual mileage. Recalibration is a good idea.
I know that when I went from 308's to 410's my speedo was WAY off!!
They kinda fed you a line of bs.
323's to 342's are very close, you may not notice the difference. I think it is a 4% or 5% difference

this point I think I am keeping the car till it hits the junkyard.
The odomoeter does worry me alot more than the speedo, however I think I can live with it in until Hypertech gets around to it.
12sec - I wondered if it wasn't BS.
I questioned about the reluctor ring (even mentioned ABS), and they went oh-- yea, thats the thing we were talking about - thats what keeps track of your speed.
Oh well. THought I didn't have to look forward to necessarily spitting out the dough for the hypertech.
I'm still happy with the results. It wasn't night and day, but low end pull improved. Coupled with the added traction of the zex though - that made it even more worth it.
However when I add up the costs--- and I even got $60 gears--

JET has a reprogrammer (similar to Hypertech) that will fix the speedo and do some other stuff as well. It costs the same as the Hypertech Reprogrammer. Take a look at it www.jetchip.com
