  • Belt walk after AC delete?

Everytime I get that close something else comes up.

Took the 'bird to work today. Popped the hood to do my usual "post drive check" only to find out that (for the second time) my serpentine belt has walked its way right into the alternator.

Last summer I did the AC Delete (it was broke anyway) and dropped a 61" belt onto the car. It ran fine, no problems. Then I put the 'charger back on and a belt tick/squeal developed.

Yesterday I noticed that the belt had walked into the alternator. Pulled it off, repositioned it and *poof* belt squeal is gone. Now the squeak is back and the belt is shreading itself on my alternator.

Anyone else had this problem or know a solution?

Look from the side at everything -- your alternator might not be lined up with the rest of things -- the alternator is an oft-replaced item.

I threw my belt completely off at the end of one 1/4 pass!

I've thrown the charger belt a few times (that's a pain).

I'm gonna take a look on lunch break, maybe that is the problem. I thought I had it all tight, but I could be wrong!
