  • Rear end swap guide

I might be doing a rear end swap in the near future and i was looking for a guide that someone once posted. I tried the search but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know the site?

    Basically, it's a straight Bolt-up.
Here are the results of my search...

Just enter " rearend swap " - "disk brake conversion" and you'll get all, kinds of crazy stuff

I looked for the rear installation website I once saw, but I keep getting an "ERROR" page. I guess it was deleted.
I'll try to give the best instructions I can here, but please keep in mind that I may accidentally leave something out:

-Get the rear in the air and jackstand it from the frame, wheels removed.
-Unbolt the LCA's from the rear and turn down. You can remove them altogether if preferred.
        -Unbolt the driveshaft, and remove.
-Unbolt the tourque arm from rear.
-Disconnect e-brake cables from old rear and remove.
-Disconnect brake lines at the center section of rear.
-Disconnect ABS sensor plug on top of the rear in the center.
        -Disconnect panhard rod.
-Jack the rear up in center, and remove lower shock bolts.
-After the shocks are unbolted, slowly lower the rear down and it SHOULD come right out. The springs will fall right out too.

        Reverse instructions for installation ;)

I did this myself, and the first thing I did when installing the other rear was jack it up with the springs inplace and bolted the shocks on to temporarily hold the rear steady. Keep the jack under the center of the rear to keep the full weight off of the shocks.
*If you're going from drum to disk, you'll need disk brake emergency cables. The drum cables are different and won't fit the new rear.

Like I said, I may have left a few things out that I forgot to add. So if noticed, please add to my mistake(s).
I have installed quite a few rears on f-body's over the years, so I'll try to help the best I can with any problems you may encounter. Just email me with questions :D
