  • rear end swap or replace gears??

    what do u guys think? this is the situation. I can have someone change my gears and piut posi in for 1200, or i can try and do a Z28 rear end swap for a lot cheaper???
    SLP CAI, RK Sport headers, P&Ped heads and intake, GT2 cam, Upgraded valvetrain, Z28 rear axle with 4.10s Tx Spd tune, Z06 rims, 2.5\" exhaust to flowmaster, 160* thermo, B&M ripper, upgraded ignition, rockford fosgate 12\" with sony xplode amp and HU.

    Do the swap, that's what I did, and for $300 you can't go wrong. Easy to do yourself as well.

        looking back on everything It would have been much easier to do it this way (rear axle swap).

        gears and lsd for 1200 is a bit insane. I had gears and posi (parts+install for 450ish)

          It would be eaiser to buy a complete rear-axle. They sell on E-bay at a good price. (Taken off of wrecked late-models)

                      not only that but don't the z28's and TA's have disc brakes?? that means that with the swap you get LSD, 3.42 gears, and disc brakes. Good deal, you just need the labor.

                          You know my opinion on this one. (see sig) I got my whole setup, for $200, but then I went ahead and replaced everything brake related.

                              Is labor really cheaper to switch a complete rear axle than putting in a new rear gear with LSD?
