• Backing plates?

I'm doing a rear-end swap once I'm out of college on April 27th, and it looks like I have a rear-end lined up that meets my specifications perfectly.

However, the only problem is that the guy says he's missing the "backing plates" from the rear end.. what is he talking about? Can i take those plates from my current rear end and put them on the new one???

    Here is the post:

I'm also just checking to make sure that his rear end will fit on my car. I'm pretty sure it will, but it never hurts to make sure

    Thank you!

Yeah, your backing plates will work on that one. Since you both have the 98+ rear disc setup, the backing plates are the same, so you should be able to just swap them to your new rear.

I'm not sure if he'd have the 98+ rear disc setup, since his rearend is coming out of a '96 WS6. Does that make a difference, or will it still work?

No it won't make a difference. It would if you were trying to mount your disc setup on his backing plates, but since you're just putting all your stuff on, it should be fine.
