  • 4.11's I need more traction!! I was wondering about gettin posi or a diff. need help

I love my Firebird, when I bought it i had no knowledge of f-body's and was told it had 4.11 gears and i was like ok is that good. Well after learning a little....a very little about the car. Now I want to get both tires to get traction rather than just the one. I put 18x11 tires on the rear and 18x8 on front. But i still spin all the time. What do I need? How much is it gonna cost?

I don't know why anybody would put 4.11s without posi, but definately get it.

18x11 tires? don't u mean rims, and what size tires do u have? if u don't have LSD or POSI, then u should get one installed.

yea, i really doubt someone would put 4.11's in a carrier that isn't posi. do they even make a carrier like that?

that last owner could've bought those shimmed gears that still fit a two series carrier maybe. Definately get a posi/LSD since all that torque multiplication is only going to one freakin tire. On a side note, what's your gas mileage and highway driving like just out of curiousity? I would think mileage would be horrible and that the highway driving would be around like 3000 rpms at those speeds.

on mine, i sit at 3krpm @75mph. driving around the city, stop and go stop and go, mileage sucks. but when i drove from dallas to san fran, i did 80-85 most of the way and managed to get and average of around 25mpg. to me its definitely worth it for the performance aspect, just have a beater to drive most of the time.
