    Hey!

My rearend from a 97 z is coming soon, it has 3.42 gears, positrack and disc brakes! wooohooooo! What exactly will I need to install it with? I know, i've searched this before, and have several details down, but I'd like to talk to someone who has!
I have a good jack, 4 jack stands, lots of muscle lol,my brother said he'd help so that should be good. Will I need a torque wrench for the rear bolts or anything? Our's broke right as I was getting mechanicaly inclined  SoI'd have to buy one :( but its cool

    Just let me know guys!

That's about it. Plus a good set of sockets and open ended wrenches. Impact gun preferable. I'd also get a new rear differential cover gasket and oil, so that you can take a look inside and put new oil in. Who knows if it's ever been changed. Have fun. :D

Impact wrench is cool but if you are poor like me and don't have a garage cuz you are in college.

A BIG *** BREAKER BAR WILL HELP!

didn't have one till after I did this and its wrth the $10-15, get the one with the half in. socket, even if you need ot buy an adapter to get your sockets to work with it its worth it.

a hammer, to hit a wrench that is stubborn.

Extra brake fluid, get a clear hose to bleed the brakes later(I used a gas line for a lawnmower, sold at car stores for cheap)

use like a clear 20oz bottle to bleed the brakes, and bleed them run the car, drive a little, be prepared ofr the brakes not to work, then rebleed, and repeat, and rebleed and repeat.

I had a problem with this and 1 or 2 others , but after rebleeding it finally worked.

And yes it appeared we did the first rebleedings correctly.

I also reccomend swapping the driveshaft if oyu can, lt1 dirveshafts can be had for $25 or less, and if you do take the riveshaft, torque arm and rear end all off at once, it avoids the problem with delaing with the mount on the 2-piece driveshaft.

might need to get new ebrake lines if you haven't already. you'll need up to a 22mm socket for a couple of the bolts, i had to run out and buy a new tool set because of that(plus i just needed an excuse to get one). that may be it, i can't recall all of it at the moment. i basically did this by myself except for having my cousin help me lift the axle from the crate to the jack. it's fairly easy and wouldn't have taken very long if i hadn't stopped for smokes and beer and to go get that tool set.
you can\'t get off if you don\'t get on
