anyone have this setup? i think it would be pretty cool. what all would i need to run one of these? i assume a torque converter, transgo shift kit...anythin else?
also, i have no idea what kit i would use, if someone could help me wit that, id appreciate it.

one more question, what is like the stall you would get on a converter? ive heard talk about it but i never knew what it did or how it worked

Various shift kits will allow for you to manually shift your automatic, and they are almost certainly cheaper than one of thoes valve bodies. (I didn't see prices on the site, and usually if you have to ask, you can't afford it.)

A shift kit probably wouldn't be compatable with an after market valve body. Most shift kits have a replacement spacer plate (goes between the valve body and tranny), which would not work with an after market valve body. And any modifications that a shift kit makes to the factory valve body would be lost in the swap. If you did get an after market valve body, about the only other thing that would help the shifting would be a corvette servo.

You would not need an after market torque converter to use a valve body, or shift kit.

This site will tell you all about how the torque converter works. This thread explains stall.

I just don't see the benefit of a valve body over, say this shift kit.

Edit: changed last shift kit link, didn't notice you had a '92 at first

thanks man, that helped a lot

with that shift kit, does it allow 1,2,d to be shifted manually, then (d) would be automatic?

or in other words, are there any other semi-manuals that are cheap. i jus think that would be great to have and have the feel of a manual when you want to

Right off the link for the shift kit:

quote:
# Includes optional stick shift for FULL manual shifting.
          # Hold 1st, 2nd, 3rd to any RPM.
          # Backshifts at your command.

So, yeah, that shift kit will allow you to operate your automatic like a manual.

I might be totally of my rocker here, but isn't manually shifting your auto hard on the tranny, I know its been debated before, but will this kit make it less harmful to the trans?

well, what this would do was replace the original valve body with a new one. and i havent heard of anything hurtin the tranny when you do that. i did a search on it, and ive heard no negative outcomes from puttin in a new valve body

contact chevyboy07 on AIM, he's the one who did it. He knows more about cars than anybody I know. If he asks who you are, just say you saw him on the sffba forum.
