  • Auto to Manual tranny in 93 3.4v6

I would really like to convert my 1993 Firbird 3.4v6 Automatic, Into a 5-speed manual, how much do you guys think parts and labor would be...and how hard would it be to do myself??

not sure what all you would have to buy for sure.. i was thinking about doing this a while back.

you would need a tranny , bell housing, PCM, peadls, hydraulics, console, shifter.. and im sure there are some other things that would be needed also (cross member)

if you are serious about doing it , i have a T-5 from a 3.4L and a bell housing for sale, 75$ (i decided it wouldnt like as much power as i was going to be throwing thru it)

StudlyCamaro... T-5's are stronger than you think. I have a friend who put a 350 zz crate motor in his 85 trans am and the t-5 handled it without problems.

tottaly different, but I once had a Pontiac Sunbird, it was an auto, I bought a donor car (rotten POS) that had a 5 speed, and I changed her over, me and a couple friends did it in a long day, it took about 14 hours, so that is a front wheel drive car, I would think a RWD would be easier...for me anyway...it isint to hard, especially if you have a donor car, to see where everything goes, and you have all the parts to do it with

ya, its a good deal, but I think you need a hella lot more then just the tranny...though it is definately a good start!

In this conversion I shouldn't have to buy a new ECM right? since automatics weren't computer controlled until 1994, and mines a 93..so my ecm should be fine right?
