Ok what dose it mean when you loose reverse, 2nd, and 4th gears in you're automatic 3.8 4 speed! I was driving to work and I dropped what little hammer my car had and it started jumping REALLY BAD trying to shift into 2nd. I let off and then eased back on to the gas and it acted like it was in neutral. I backed off again and then come on the throttle one more time and it shifted ROUGHLY into 3rd. :(
Any suggestions of what happened or what I can do? ( Other than )

No no codes yet I JUST dropped it off at a dealer that wasnt going to try and *&*! me. I called one dealer up and even with my warranty they were going to try and charge me like $75 labor just to check the codes! The guys that have her now are doing it for free and will give me a call tomorrow.
BTW my term of drop the hammer means I floored it.
;) Not like we all havnet done that

That happened on my iroc before, at first I thought the clutches had gone bad but that wasn't the problem. My band, torque converter, and sprag had broken, then I found out the input housing shaft had wear on it. Had to replace all that stuff.
Yours could be that or the clutches are gone from possibly powerbraking it. I overhauled my 700R4 tranny myself and it cost me about300-400 dollars, if a shop does it, better get ready to pull out a couple thousand because its going to need an overhaul.
I never really powerbreaked it that much at all, then again I never really had to. If I wanted to roll the tires it was never really that hard. Well thank goodness that I got that extended warranty ( up to 91000 miles) the shop recomended to replace the whole thing. The bad news is that the warranty wont cover replaceing it they will only cover fixing it.
Soooooooo I have to fork out $300 for the diffrence of replacing the tranny with a new one which has a 3 year, 50000 mile warranty on it. Hey I am  with that. Hey not bad for that car in my book though it had 28000 miles when I got it, I took it to across country for the Navy and half way back and the only real issue I had with it was 2 flat tires and a sparkplug wire that had a hole in it and was fouling out. Not to bad.
