  • What is a Rear Tailshaft Housing Seal?

The Mechanic who changed my oil said this seal was leaking. Is this bad?

  • #2
The tailshaft housing seal is the seal around the tailshaft of the transmission. It's where the driveshaft-transmission juncture is. A slow leak isn't something to be immediately concerned with, as long as you check your fluid regularly.

Replacing the seal is not a difficult job, but will entail changing the transmission fluid and dropping the driveshaft.
    Big cam. Big stall. Big nuts.<br /><br /><a href=\"http://www.streetlethal.net/vids2/joenastycam.MPG\" target=\"_blank\">Idle/Rev Clip.</a>
