only 2050 rpms @ 70 mph!
Did you put in a super low overdrive gear or what! I know that our top gear ratios are different (mine is an M5) but I am at almost 2500 rpms @ 70 mph.\'01 Camaro M5 1SA \"Lightweight\" hardtop, Bright Red, Ebony cloth, FRA, Whisper Lid, B&B cat-back, Torsen 3.73 LSD, HPPIII (93 octane setting)<p>\'00 Camaro SS M6 T-Top, all GM and most SLP opts., Bright Red, Ebony leather, 4.10s, SLP long tubes, Loudmouth, CNC Stage II H/C, etc.

Well, I went from 3:42's to 3:23's which is siimilar due to a change in gear's by one level (just the wrong direction) and I can definatley say yes there WAS a difference just by changing one ratio.
I went from 2.1 60 foots with 3:42's to 2.3 60 foots with 3:23's
Later on I added a converter and things got better.
I'm not a fan of the higher numerical gears thoughRace car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

It would be about the equivalent of adding another 18 to 19 horsepower. Going from a 3.42 to a 3.73.
The gain might be small, but yes, anytime you go with bigger gears you will accelerate faster. It should be a noticeable differance.<b>15.41</b> @ 89.80 & 15.45 @ <b>91.64</b>, 2.21 60ft, 3,440 raceweight, using <b>OEM</b> Equipment. <br />\'98 L67/M49 w/ 134,000 miles before spun bearing. \"<i>It\'s all stock, Baby</i>!\"

You will notice a difference, a lot of guys on this board have gone with 3.73s and it worked out real well for them. I personally went to 3.42s from 3.08s and I'm loving it, but I probably won't ever get 3.73s. I'd rather spend my money on more worthwhile mods like a converter and cam.
12secondv6: I just noticed, your post number is exactly the same as mine except you have a zero on the end, LMAO.

What happens when you've done all you can but want to go faster?
3.08's to 3.73's is like giving the engine another 42 horsepower. Can't shake a stick at that!!!
Compared to the 'relative gain' of 22 horsepower you got going from 3.08 to 3.42. I can see you not wanting to do it 'now' already having 3.42's if you can't get it done for less than a couple hundred bucks.
With 3.73's crusing (70MPH) is around 2,500. Not all that bad. But again, look at the gain in acceleration you'll benefit.<b>15.41</b> @ 89.80 & 15.45 @ <b>91.64</b>, 2.21 60ft, 3,440 raceweight, using <b>OEM</b> Equipment. <br />\'98 L67/M49 w/ 134,000 miles before spun bearing. \"<i>It\'s all stock, Baby</i>!\"
