• question about trashed tranny/clutch...

Basically after my thrid race tonight at the track, my tranny took a dump...

feels reall hard to shift, metallic clanking sound that follows revs coming from tranny, sometimes I have a hard tiem getting into first, sometimes I don't. Third, is almot impossible to get into, and the shifter sometimes gets stuck in netural and 4th.

    noises in all gears...

Any basica ideas of what it might be?

btw, was rebuilt, resurfaced flywheel, and new OEM clutch in september.

syncs is my guess, uhh could be that water got in and some how pitted every thing ( this happend in my old 88 ) uhh but my guess is syncs, try double clutching ( let out on the clutch for a sec between gears ) No its not for speed its to get the shaft to spin in compensation of the syncs

hmm... could be the synbchros, does liek to kick me out of gears, but a little odd for jsut about all of them to go out at once...

I doubt water got up in it, the tranny ws rebuilt about 6 months ago.

I also want to add... it that when I do get it in gear, it performs normally(other hten horrendous clattering noise) but the clutch doesn't slip, peddle has normal pressure.

which leads me to believe transmission only related.

Could be a bent clutch fork and not synchros.

Not sure but it could sound to be that...

More info I drove it today, dorve 100% fine no slipping on the clutch, no excessive noise, then kerpunk out of now where did what it was doing before... after about 2-3 minutes of driving...

I drove up in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and wound down each gear befoer it started oging out.

leads meto believe its clutch related...

Jsut curious do oyu think a shifter might cause this? I am pretty hard on it when I shift gears, worked it loose maybe?

Just an out there question but worth asking becasue its something cheap and easy to fix.

I'm having similar problems with my car, but not to the extent that you are. My car seems hard to shift, and it feels (and sounds) like the clutch is slipping some. I'm taking it to the shop on monday. You shouldn't be having problems with your clutch though if it's been replaced pretty recently. I don't know what to tell you

                  yours might be your clutch...

I might have clutch problems if I messed up my master cylinder but I doubt I did.

As for destroying new clutches I ahve done it

this is my 4th clutch in the last 30k, and I blew the clutch out in my dads, 2000 when it had 7k on it :D

                      none known...

I am going to check it out today some more...

I am going to look at my shifter... the rubber boot was put in kinda half assed, maybe shifter was as well...

BLutch does have full pressure it feels like.

if it is popping out of gears then it is definatley your syncro's, pretty hard to do yourself and should cost around 800 dollars or more to fix.
