Heres my problem, I went from 308 to 342 and I got a used scu 2000 that I dont have instructions for. I also have 18 inch rims if that matters... First ? How much if any are my track times being hurt due to the fact that my car is redlining cuz it thinks its still got the 308's. I know its changing gears at the wrong times and putting me out of my powerband. My top end is horrible.Second ? can soeone please tell me how to use the scu 2000. Can someone please help me with it. My top end is killing me! I really need to find out how to make this thing work...

The hole is where you put a jumper to take off the top speed limiter. There are 3 pins the jumper connects 2 of them I don't remember which 2 takes off the limiter I'll have to look at my instructions when I find them or you could try switching it to 1 and go tryta nd drive faster than 118 and if it doesn't work, Switch it to the other set of pins ! Well I found out that the hole is were a chip that turns the speed govener on and off goes... I dont have the chip so is mine off or on? Ps its cool that I awnswered all my questions by myself so far hugh? NO! I know that this has been posted a thousand times but I didnt have any directions man. The search feature dosent give me any pictures or anything... Plus if I ask a question no ones gonna respond cuz the post was from 2 years ago. So then when I post a new topic to ask questions reguarding what I found on my search it seems like everyones saying screw that post he can do a search....See what Im saying??? Any way I got to give the search future kudos cuz it did help me out a lot. Sorry for venting. Laron

Also I dont have any copper connecter to plug into a power source. All I have is the red wire with the pink plastic on the end. I was thinking about just taking off the plastic and hooking the metal peice up to my battery. Do you think it would work? Dose it matter what terminal I hook it up to?

Yea you can just stip some of the plastic off the wire just make sure you get a REALLY GOOD power and ground connection or it will mess up. And you can hook it up anywhere there is constant power be it to the battery, the termial box thingy near the battery, or the fuse box.

A jumper is a little piece of plastic with metal inside it that will make those pins make a close loop connection. You can find all kinds of them in old computers if you have one of those???

If not go to a local computer shop and tell them you need a jumper they'll be happy to give you one I'm sure!

with the jumper gone I believe you WILL have a speed limiter!

OK I just hooked it up to the red batterry terminal. Ive done everything but put the jumper in the hole cuz I aint goy one. When I started my car it dosent turn over right away. Its usually cha-boom. Now after trying several times its cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-boom. Sounds like sh**. Did you experiance this.

Cars fine... Wifes bringing jumper from mall. Really pissed me off. Guy on phone thought I was talking about a set of jumper cables. We broke it down and my wife got somthing called a capciter. That sound like what I need? Hope so. Anyways Ill go to the track tonight and see how bad I butchered the install.

OK cars defiently not fine, I took it to the track and it woudnt go past 80 mph no matter what settings I try. It really sucks to cuz even though I couldnt go past 80 mph my times were still equal to my best time. That gives you an idea of how fast I was getting to 80 mph. I know if I could go to the next gear I would blow my best of 15.9 away easily. But instead Im 100-200 feet away and my car hits 80 and then redlines...What is causing this. PLEASE HELP ME....

Can someone awnswer these questions? Dose it matter if you have the jumper chip in? If you do not have a good power or ground connection what will happen? If no matter what settings you try your car will still not shift or pass 80 mph, is this a good example of bad hook up?

tHANKS mAGNUS i READ YOUR post from a long time ago where a couple of people were saying the SCU dosent work. You said yes it dose but they needed to go recheck there power and ground lines. I tried what you said and the thing is actually shifting now. To the people who have trouble with it in the future please try this. I would have sworn on my life that I had a good connection but Magnus is right it is very finicy and must be posistioned just right to get the 12 v power.

Yea your right you did try to tell me. At the time I thought I had every thing hooked up good though. I really appreciate your help big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldnt have done it without your help. The car is awesome now! It feels like every mod Ive done just woke up. My powerband is simply amazing. I know people are gonna think I m exaggerrating but Im not. The car is a beaste now! Today My car did things I thought it would never do. Example I usually cant even spin my tires. And when I can its pretty sad.... Today I was churping second like it was easy. I even chirped third going up a hill. My gears switch right before 6k. Is that bad? My powerband on second gear hit so hard that the car shifted to the right and I had to regain cotrol of the car. I was actually a little scared to floor it cuz with my best quarter of 15.9 Im not used to that kind of power. Dont get me wrong Im not tyying to imply that a jet scu will give you an extra 50 hp or anything... I know it dosent give you any hp. But what it did do for me was put me in the correct rpm's to receive my engines maximum potential. And I feel that this is the best mod I have done. No more getting to 3rd gear at the track and barely moving cuz my rpm's are to low for me.
