allmost all the syncro's in their are shot i'm sure, and i can't get it in to 2nd gear if the rpm's are above 4000. i know it needs to be rebuilt i just want some pointers from poeple have done it before.

take it to a transmission shop. someone without any experience shouldn't be messing around in there. there are far too many gears that have to be lined up perfectly for someone who hasn't ever done work on a transmission.
there aren't many that work on manauls anymore so good luck finding one. i had a 5th gear synchro put in a few months ago by the dealership. i think the total from a tranny shop was going to be around $400 for parts and labor so you're looking at a little more than that. the dealership quoted $700. fortunately, mine was under warranty.
