    bout to change my rear diff fluid and i'm a bit confused as to my gear size. i've heard you can count teeth to determine the size. is there someplace or does anyone know how many teeth there are per size, i.e. 3.42 = x teeth, 3.37 = y teeth? i'd really like to know for sure what size my gears are.

    Just look for the GPO code on your door...it will tell you your gear size.

      count the teeth of the ring vs the teeth of the pinion.

      ratio = 3.42:1 or 3.23:1 etc etc.

        Thank you for not just saying to use the RPO code. ;)

          To figure out your diff. gear ratio count the number of teeth on the ring gear,count the number of teeth on the pinion gear then divide the two numbers. I.E. ring gear count:41,pinion gear count:12, 41 divided by 12= 3.4166666 I.E. 3.42:1
