yep, it's true. I got mine saturday and gave it a shot and it fits the Hurst Billet Plus quite nice. Here's what happened:
I was surfing over on LS1.com a while back and in the for sale section there was a post similar to this one talking about a guy selling a short stick he makes on ebay. $20 for the stick + $5 shipping via priority mail. So I go over to ebay and check it out. Anyway the t56's aparently have a factory hurst shifter on them but it has some kind of rubber isolator that makes shifting un-precise. So this dude (presumably that works at a machine shop or something) came up with a handle to eliminate the isolator and it is also shorter than stock.
So I e-mail him and ask if anyone has tried it on a Hurst Billet Plus for the T-5. And he says no but he'd sell me one and if it doesn't work he would just refund me my cost minus shipping, so worst case scenario I'm out a few bucks shipping.
He shipped it out the same day I paid via paypal (wed) and it arrived saturday and of course I dropped what I was doing and installed it right away. it comes with the handle, new bolts, nuts and washers and even instructions. He recommended mounting it to the driver side of the shifter but in my case mounting it on the passenger side seemed to give a little more clearance.
This thing is nice to, quality machining and it is threaded down almost 2 inches so if you want you can cut off almost an inch more. It is about 2 inches shorter than the regular billet plus handle. It is threaded for a stock knob.
No one has tried it on a "competetion plus" or "pro 5.0" but from what I understand both of these shifters have separate handles that can be removed and this might be a nice upgrade for those to, but I am uncertain.
I e-mailed the dude with a review, and checked to make sure it would be cool to post his e-mail here so if anyone is interested they can shoot him a message. Dude's name is Jarrod Holland and his e-mail is jarrodholland@yahoo.com
hope this can help some folks that don't wanna pay $50+ for a short stick..
