just talked to the transmission shop several of my relatives use. told him my 5th gear synchronizer has been acting weird. he said "is it a T5?" i told him it was and he said he's made a good living replacing synchros in T5s. he said he might be able to retire early if they keep making T5 with bad synchronizers. he also said he's done a lot of 2000+ T5s from f-body cars. he was telling me that i was lucky to get 45,000 miles out of it.

parts: $150
labor: $150

i guess next week i'll be driving one of my dad's vehicles for a few days over this stupid synchro.

Hell I use mine all the time, no trouble. Reverse is the only tricky gear, but I think I have a handle on it.

Actually, come to think of it... I'm not sure if my tranny is as smooth as it used to be while shifting... I'd have to test drive a new one to know for sure.

Use mine all the time, 64K on it. Not a problem at all.

i use all my gears. reverse is no big deal since there is no reverse synchro you have to out it in first(or any forward gear for that matter) before putting it back into reverse.

anyway my car still shifts and it has 90K miles my second gear synchro probably started going out around 60K miles.
i was swimming in the carribean. animals were hiding behind the rocks except for the little fish, but they told me the squid\'s trying to talk to me. oink, oink. where is my mind?

unless you want unnecessary engine wear and bad highway mileage, i suggest using 5th gear. i thought this was common sense...

I stil use 5th gear no problem

I have problems with 2nd, when I lazy shift it, but when I slam it it works great.

my car has gotten stuck in 4th 2-3 times but very very rarely happens.

and reverse, shifter pops into neutral, as soon as clutch is engaged, has for 1.5 years.

generally daily drivng I shift 1st, 3rd, 5th. advatage of having a cam that is like a truck motor, lots of torque at low RPMS, to pull the car.
