  • For anyone who has installed new gears and LSD themselves..

I got the 3-series carrier, the ring and pinion, and the ABS ring, only thing I can think of that I still need is some sort of install kit.

What kind of install kit did you use? Did it have everything you needed? How much was it? and where did you get it?

    Thanks

you can get one from slp or jegs. you should probably change out your bearings while you are down there. straight from gm they are about $90 total for the two and then a $11 nut for the pinion. if you go that route, and buy those from gm, then buy the 1/2 kit from jegs and it will have shims/carrier gasket/pinion seal, and crush sleeve for you--and besides tools, that's all you'll need. the bearings don't have to be replaced, but if you are are in the housing, you might as well change them out (better now then later when you have problems) but the nut you must have.

the 7.5" 10 bolt kit for $21 is what you'll need if you are going to get your bearings and nut from gm. that should be about it. and some red-locktite for the pinion nut.

I was told that in order to do it properly you needed a depth gauge or something like that and its better to just have a shop do it if you don't have one and know what your doing. Maybe thats not true...
