transmission rattle

[2002 v6 camaro uncharged]

Hi I have a rattle coming from my manual 5 speed tranny and I thought it was the throw out bearing and so I changed the clutch. Its still there.

It only does it when it is in nutraul and it goes away when you step on the clutch or push the shifter towards a gear. The macanic that put my clucth in says it is nothing worth worrying about right now. He said it is probably a bearing inside my trans or the (input shaft bearing I think that is what he called it). I just wanted to get your guys opinion.

did you replace the throwout bearing with the clutch?

yes the throwout bearing was changed, I gave the mechanic a spec stage 2 clutch kit from LM performace to put in and that included the clutch, pressure plate, and trowout bearing.

that is the classic throwout bearing sound... the whole assembly may be out of alignment.

it could also be a f'ed up bearing inside the transmission, but my guess is that the sound would be much, much worse andthat it would have failed by now.

did you figure this one out? My car is doing something very similar, in any gear and/or neutral. Already replcaced clutch & throw out bearing.
