  • How much can the 4L60E Handle?

At how much power should I worry about my tranny blowing up basicly?? Until I really get my set up fined tuned I'm only going to run 5-10PSI of boost. Which will put me in the area of 350 HP and about 375TQ. I'm going to run a yank 3600 stall TQ. So basicly am I going to have to worry about blowing my tranny up now, or until I decide to get crazy with the boost?

Depends on how much you beat on the car.

I smoked the bands on my bird when it had 291 rwhp and 362 rwtq.... I was racing ALOT back then......

ALOT = well..... around 1200+ passes down the 1/4

Reg fluid n filter change helps.

Also a good tranny cooler too

^^ I second that. As long as you keep an eye on the fluid and a tranny cooler should be on your list.

If you are awaiting install on the Converter, you might want to look at maybe adding a few more bands to each gear. theres a company out there that sells the plates, clutches, and other stuff. I think its KDSperformance.

Our trannys are one of the best IMO, they can take a lot, but if you beat the **** out of it, it'll burn the bands and clutch packs, especially with poweradders. If your a hard driver, go the extra mile and do a rebuild with performance clutch packs/bands (Not too expensive, and you can do it yourself). If you need help finding parts, shoot me an email and I can send you some links.

If you can, get a cooler with a fan on it.

transmissioncenter.net has the cooler with a fan and thermostat switch on it. i have this waiting to be installed. they also have all the performance parts you would need if you plan to rebuild, also in the garage being done as we speak.
