The 2-4 servo which you'll hear most commonly just pushes a pin to engage the 2-4 band on your tranny (Which grips the hub). The bigger the servo, the larger the apply area = a firmer shift.

1/4 mile gains will be minimal if any. if thats what youre looking for then its not worth your trouble.

Like he said you are unlikely to see any gains, but it will decrease slippage wich will extend the life of your tranny.

I hear alot about this servo too. But don't you have to install a Shift Kit with this servo?? and doesnt the shift kit apply too much pressure on the tranny that instead decreases the life of it??
I'm just asking b/c I'm confused but interested in getting one.

If your tranny is in good working order then a shift kit and/or servo will increase the life expectancy. Increasing line pressure will cause the tranny to shift faster (less slippage between gears = less heat buildup).

I'm not following, because if you look at servos at http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4L60E.htm for instance, it lists the intermediate servo as affects the 1-2 and 2-3 shift, whereas the overdrive servo affects the 3-4.

                What's the deal?
