But I do know that RWD burnouts are just cooler! well, i don't think you can really say that one is better than the other. fwd has it's advantages, rwd has it's advantages, and awd has it's advantages. awd gets great traction, but loses a lot of hp throughout the drivetrain, rwd really has no advantage over fwd and loses hp throughout the drivetrain; and fwd usually gets the better launches and doesn't lose hardly any hp because it really has no drivetrain (driveshaft and such).2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

FWD better launches???
I guess no one has driven any FWD's with power then.
John Force's ride, which is it? RWD Fastest 1/4 mile car is RWD in the 4's Fastest FWD in the 1/4 is (I think so don't quote me) 8's?
I can't say FWD, RWD or AWD is better than the other, it all depends on what you want.
AWD is great for off roading, poor weather, and road racing on dirt. Huge lose of power through drivetrain.
FWD is good for snow and rain just like AWD. This loses the least amount of power through the drivetrain.
RWD is typically used in a performance car Corvette's, Ferrari's, F body's, Mustangs etc). Traction, or launches, are better because all the vehicle's weight it transferred to the rear to improve traction (unlike FWD).
I have driven many RWD cars, some FWD's and one AWD.
One of the FWD's was nitroused :D and traction was a ***** in it!!! With just a 60 shot and only running 15.0 bottlevs 16.7 n/aRace car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

rwd gets the best weight distribution for launches. awd gets the best traction, and fwd has the least hp loss through the drivetrain. rwd doesn't get a lot of traction compared to awd, awd has the most drivetrain lossed, and fwd gets the worst weight to drivewheel transfer than any of the others.2001 Arctic White Firebird
More mods than I\'m allowed to list!

automatic fieros can launch HARD!
theres a guy on www.fiero.nl running 12.9s on a mostly stock motor and wet nx nitrous kit (i think a 100 shot or so).
I put a 3.4 motor from a camaro into my fiero to replace the 2.8, I have a high volume oil pump, windage tray, crate performance cam, shaved heads, ported intake and exhaust (fiero intake manifold makes more power then the camaro one). and it comes out to around 200 hp with 19# injectors. and weighing in at 2700 lbs, it flies!1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula SOLD!
1999 Pontiac Firebird
http://members.sounddomain.com/tlight99

ok here I'll try to explain it. But there is more than I'll remember to write here.
FWD has great stability in bad weather its also much more forgiving when the driver screws up. however it reaches its max a lot quicker cause the weight balace resembles that of a pickup truck. Also the front tired have to pull double duty with steering and acceleration.
RWD will launch harder cause of wieght transfer as the car starts to move forward the kenetic energy of gravity will try to hold the car in place which is why cars lift the nose when they take off, weight transfer. When this happens less weight is on the front tires and more on the rears. Also rear wheel drive will let you drift through a turn where as front wheel drive will plow in a straight line once it reaches its limit.
AWD well i dont have too much experience with it, but the Subaru guys love it.2001 Blue Firebird.
V6 M5. free ram air mod, 3\" pvc intake, Air temp module, 3\" exhaust, Dynomax 3\"straight through exhaust, O2 sim with off road pipe.
Kenwood kdc-mp919 head unit, kfc-628 and kfc-748 amps, Kicker I650 mids/highs, 12\" kenwood WS-303 sub
www.trafficjamzcaraudio.com
1500 years ago the world was the center of the universe. 500 years ago the world was flat. 15 minutes ago we were alone on this planet. i don't think its "just like" a vette, altho i don't know much about vette drivetrain.. But i do know that my fiero has a drivetrain "just like" a bretta or z24 cavalier (only stuck in the trunk instead of under the hood. and i can't wait to try to hook a 3800 to my fiero 4spd

The Fiero has a FWD drive train stuffed in the back of the car :D
The fiero was a great idea before its time I'm afraid.2001 Blue Firebird.
V6 M5. free ram air mod, 3\" pvc intake, Air temp module, 3\" exhaust, Dynomax 3\"straight through exhaust, O2 sim with off road pipe.
